ONE of the UK’s best-loved sitcoms, Rising Damp, has come to the North-East in a stage production.
Darlington Civic Theatre is staging from Tuesday to Saturday the famous sitcom featuring a self-regarding landlord and his tenants in the a seedy English boarding house.
The stage version is newly produced by the Comedy Theatre Company, producers of the stage versions of Victoria Wood’s Dinnerladies and BBC TV’s Birds of a Feather.
Directed by cast member Don Warrington and written by TV series writer Eric Chappell, the series was ranked the top ITV sitcom on the 100 Best Sitcoms poll in 2004.
The show will continue each night at 7.30 pm from Tuesday (May 21) to Saturday, with matinees at 2pm on Thursday and 2.30pm on Saturday.
