CARE home residents enjoyed a wartime–themed party as the clock was turned back to the 1940s.
Staff at Tenlands Care Home in Wood Lane, Ferryhill, held a Put on the Blitz 1940s-style party for residents at the home today (Monday, May 20/0.
Several staff donned outfits while wartime entertainment was provided by Janey St John.
Residents enjoyed ration-style food and there were ration books and war period newspapers.
Beverley Poulson, the home’s activities co-ordinator, said: “It’s has been absolutely brilliant and everyone has had a good time.
“Some of the staff, including home manager Victoria Lee, dressed in 1940s-style clothes and some of the residents have been waving union flags.”
The idea stemmed from a visit to the Putting on the Blitz show by Enter CIC recently. It is hoped to hold another 1940’s-style event on D-Day June 6.
