THREE people have been arrested after a man was assaulted.
The un-named victim, in his 40s, was rushed to hospital after the incident at Edward Terrace, New Kyo, near Stanley, County Durham, on Friday.
It was first thought that he had suffered life threatening injuries but police say he made a significant recovery and was later discharged from the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
The three people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
They are two women, aged 20 and 22, and a man in his 40s.
Police say they are not looking for anyone else over the incident but have appealed for information.
Officers visited the area today (Sunday May 19) to see if anyone saw what happened.
Detective Inspector Gavin Heckles said: “A number of officers are assisting with this investigation and all efforts will be made to bring those responsible to justice.”
