THE family of a 25-year-old man who died in a road crash on Saturday have paid tribute to the man “who spread happiness in the hearts of everyone he met".
Andrew Dunn, from Wynyard, near Stockton, died on the A689 between Wynyard and Sedgefied at about 11.40am.
Mr Dunn was driving a green Ford Fiesta which was in collision with a blue Peugeot.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver and female passenger of the Peugeot were taken to hospital but were later released.
Family members of Mr Dunn released a tribute through Cleveland Police.
They said: “Andrew was a happy person who tried so hard with everything he did. He spread happiness in the hearts of everyone he met.
"Andrew loved the outdoors, loved his family and he never ever gave up. He was a much loved brother, son and grandson. We miss you.”
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the accident and took the 47-year-old female passenger of the Peugeot to hospital with suspected serious head, abdominal and pelvic injuries.
However police later described her injuries as cuts and bruises.
The male driver of the Peugeot was also taken to hospital with cuts and bruises.
The A689, which connects Hartlepool to the A1, was closed in both directions until about 5pm.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have been travelling on that stretch of road who has not already been in contact to call the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 083556.
