POLICE said a 10-year-old girl hit by a motorbike in North Yorkshire was lucky to be left without any serious injuries.
The collision, which happened on Boroughbridge Road in Ripon, near the racecourse, was reported to police by a member of the public who witnessed the motorcycle hit the child at around 1.30pm today. (Sunday, May 19)
Paul Richardson, deployment manager for North Yorkshire Police, said: “This little girl and the motorcyclist have been very lucky to avoid serious injury.
“If she had been struck by the wheel is could have been a very different story.
“She is a local girl, and officers on the scene found her mother who took her to Harrogate District Hospital as a precaution.
“The bike hardly had any damage to it and the rider was not hurt so we are very lucky this turned out the way it did."
