A DRUNKEN man who shouted abuse at police as they tried to get him out of his mother’s car has been fined £37.
Aaron Edward Jeffries, 30, admitted being and drunk and disorderly when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Phil Morley said officers were called to the car park outside Bishop Auckland Police Station shortly after midnight on May 3 to find Jefferies, asleep in his mother’s car.
Mr Morley said she had driven Jeffries there because he was drunk and she did not know what to do with him.
Jefferies, formerly of Chapel Street, Hunwick, but now living in a hostel near Chester-le-Street, awoke and began shouting and swearing.
Jefferies has a history of similar offences with 27 convictions for 38 offences, the latest offence placing him in breach of a conditional discharge.
Jefferies, who represented himself, said he was trying to turn his life around.
He also demanded that no report of his case be published because of the embarrassment it would cause his family.
The chair of the bench replied: “If you do not want anything put in the paper do not come back to court.”
He was ordered to pay a £37 fine and £20 victim surcharge.
