A NIGHTCLUB has been cordoned off by police this morning probing a ‘serious’ assault which left a man with head and leg injuries.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened at about 3.25am in the smoking area outside Slam nightclub (formerly known at Aruba) in Exchange Square, Middlesbrough.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “A 34-year-old man suffered leg and facial injuries in the incident and is currently detained at James Cook University Hospital.
“Police are keen to speak to two females who are believed to have been at the scene of the incident when it happened as they may have information which could assist the investigation.”
Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with further information is asked to contact Temporary Detective Sergeant Clark Graham of Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
