A STAND-UP comedian is preparing to conquer her fear of camping, after being appoint poet-in-residence to the Glastonbury Festival.
Former radio reporter Kate Fox has previously turned down a chance to perform at the world’s biggest greenfield festival as it would involve camping.
She said the opportunity of writing topical verse at the event from June 26 to June 30, had been too good to miss.
The 37-year-old, from Thirsk, who regularly appears on Radio 4’s Saturday Live, said she would write two poems a day for the festival’s website, using her journalistic experience to find interesting subjects.
She said: “I will just have to hope this isn't a rainy year and will be buying myself a very warm sleeping bag.
“I’ve never been to a festival before, but I’m open-minded about it and expect there to be plenty of inspiration for poems.”
