TEACHERS, governors and parents will take part in North-East rally for education on Saturday.
The event in Newcastle city centre is jointly organised by the NUT and NASUWT trade unions, which represent nine out of ten teachers.
The unions say the 11am rally at the International Centre for Life, in Newcastle, is part of a campaign to defend the education of children and young people.
The May 18 event will be addressed by NUT general secretary, Christine Blower and NASUWT deputy general secretary, Patrick Roach.
The next phase of their campaign of industrial action will include a one-day strike in the North-West on June 27.
Ms Blower said: "The rally in Newcastle gives an opportunity for the voices of opposition to be raised."
