VISITORS to a Durham dale will be greeted with a new book lifting the lid on the area’s best places to visit.
The 80 page Bedroom Browser can be found in more than 200 bedrooms in tourist accommodation throughout Weardale this summer.
The second edition of the Bedroom Browser, produced by the Weardale Visitor Network, aims to encourage visitors to spend more of their time and money in Weardale.
Network member and curator of The Weardale Museum, David Heatherington, said: “Understandably, many first-time visitors arrive in Weardale with plans to go to flagship attractions at Beamish, Durham and so on, and when this happens they eat and buy their presents outside the dale.
“Our job is to provide them with a quality stay, promote all that Weardale has to offer and most importantly encourage them to return.
“The Bedroom Browser helps to achieve this.”
The Bedroom Browser, which was funded by the Weardale Area Action partnership, lists more than 150 local businesses and services, from emergency contacts to hairdressers and petrol stations, from speciality gift shops to places where you can get a late pint of milk or a Sunday paper.
Mike Boase, manager at Killhope The North of England Lead mining Museum in upper Weardale said: “The Bedroom browser is a fantastic asset to Weardale and a wealth of information for visitors.
“We are grateful for the Weardale Visitor Network for producing such a professional resource.”
