A MOTHER has raised almost £300 for a cancer charity by having her beloved hair shaved off.

Dianne Clough, 23, from Coundon had her shoulder length locks removed to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The mother-of-two was inspired to start fundraising after completing the Race For Life last year, when she raised £180.

Ms Clough said: “I want to do some good and cancer is something that affects everybody.

“I have always had long hair so it is going to be different, I did shave a bit off myself to see what it felt like and I quite like it.

“I’m just a bit worried that I might get it shaved just as the weather gets cold again.”

Her head was shaved by Gary Mitchell at Lush salon on Bondgate in Bishop Auckland.

She said she would keep some of her pink tresses to give to friends who wanted a trophy from her feat.
