NEWCASTLE Cathedral is hosting a special service this Saturday for anyone who has lost a baby or babies during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy.
Organised by Zoe and Andy Clark-Coates, from Staffordshire, who lost five children through miscarriage, the Saving Goodye service at St Nicholas Cathedral on May 18 is one of more than 20 being held in cathedrals and ministers across the UK this year.
As a result of their bereavement the couple decided to create an organisation that could help others who have been through the grief of losing a baby.
The 2pm service will feature music, poetry and readings mixed with acts of remembrance and time for reflection.
It is free to attend and open to anyone of any, or no faith and will include a performance by North-East singer Rachael Mawston.
The organisers have now obtained charity status for their organisation - The Maripose Trust - which aims to support families through bereavement.
They have been backed by well known medical experts such as Professor Lord Robert Winston and Professor Lesley Regan, and TV personalities Denise Robertson, Julie Etchingham, Nigella Lawson, Jools Oliver, Jo Elvin and Ruby Hammer..
