A SUPPORT group for people with arthritis has set up shop in a town centre chemist to raise awareness about their existence.
The Wear Valley Arthritis Care Support Group will have a stall in Boots in Bishop Auckland for the week as part of National Arthritis Care Week.
The group hope to raise awareness about arthritis and also alert people with the condition to the support group’s existence.
Group co-ordinator Jane Clayton said: “It’s a common experience where people are diagnosed with arthritis, sent home with some drugs and told to just live with it.
“But there are things that can be done and this group’s aim is to help people manage their arthritis.
“But it is also a really enjoyable social group, we don’t just sit around talking about our ailments, we have fun as well.”
The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10am at the Four Clocks Centre in Bishop Auckland.
Their stall will be in Boots on Newgate Street until the end of the week with members available to offer help and advice.
For more information call Ms Clayton on 07857-252025 or national Arthritis Care on 0808-800-4050.
