THREE generations of women from the same family will perform together at a major dance festival this weekend.
County Durham grandmother Margaret Johnson, 72, daughter Denise Durkin, 52, and grand-daughter Nicola Pilmoor, 26, will take to the floor at the North-East Panorama Festival of Movement and Dance in Darlington.
The trio are members of the Durham branch of Keep Fit Association Moves North-East.
Mrs Johnson, of Bishop Middleham, near Sedgefield, joined the group in 1975 and inspired Mrs Durkin, of Spennymoor, and Ms Pilmoor, of Bishop Auckland, to follow in her footsteps.
“I’ve always loved music and dancing but since I joined the KFA I’ve travelled all over the country and made lots of lovely friends,” said Mrs Johnson.
“I’ve always said even if you chopped my legs off I’d still manage to go to class somehow.”
Lynne Casey, chair of KFA Moves North-East, said: “It’s an amazing achievement to have three generations of one family dancing together and it just shows that exercise, friendship, enthusiasm and motivation really does lead to a long and happy life.”
Panorama takes place at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington on Saturday, May 18.
Tickets are still available for the 5.30pm performance priced at £6 for adult, £3 for children and £15 for a family of four.
