BOMB disposal experts have detonated a hand grenade found on a North-East beach.
A beach cleaner on Seaton Carew beach, near Hartlepool, discovered what is believed to be the badly rusted muinition which was encased in a rock near to the Rocket House Car Park shortly before 10am today.
Specialists from Catterick Garrison were called in and detonated the grenade near to the edge of the water after burying it in the sand.
Police had cordoned off the beach and closed roads while the operation was carried out.
