EWE wouldn’t believe it but these wire sheep will take pride of place in this year's Chelsea Flower Show.

Made by Whitby sculptor Emma Stothard, they will be at the heart of a special garden designed by Bedale group Alistair W Baldwin Associates for Welcome to Yorkshire for the show.

The garden entitled Le Jardin de Yorkshire will celebrate not only the region, but mark North Yorkshire hosting the Tour De France Grand Depart in 2014.

Other features include a traditional dry stone wall and a specially commissioned drinking trough alongside rare lady’s slipper orchids. Emma works in both wire and willow, exhibiting all over the world and recently presented a willow sculpture to Prince Charles at Highgrove of his beloeved Jack Russell dog Tigga.

Emma said: “It is such an honour to have been invited by Welcome to Yorkshire and to have my Swaledale sheep sculptures included in Le Jardin de Yorkshire at RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It's wonderful to be part of this great showcase for Yorkshire and to support the county’s Grand Départ moment.”

The show runs from May 21 to 25.
