A fourth man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man whose body was discovered in a flat. The body of Mantas Leonavicius, 22, originally from Lithuania, was found at Stanley Street, North Shields, at about 2.20pm on Friday. Police said a 21-year-old man was now being held, bringing the total number of people arrested to four. Three men, aged 17, 18 and 22, all from the North Shields area, remain in custody.
SHIPS WANTED: A flotilla of ships are being sought by a North-East lighthouse to take part in a unique musical performance. Souter Lighthouse in South Shields will be the focal point of the Foghorn Requiem, to be performed in June. Part of the Festival of the North East, the specially commissioned work will feature three land-based brass bands from the area and an armada of ships. The organisers of the festival are calling for vessels of all types and sizes to take part in the event.
