A TEENAGER who raped and robbed a 15-year-old girl in a prolonged and terrifying ordeal has been jailed for 12 years.

Abdul Miah, 19, had been drinking vodka and taking cocaine on the night he approached the girl and held a knife to her throat.

He led her into a secluded area and repeatedly raped her before telling her she would always be known as the girl who was raped.

He also told her to answer her phone, as her worried family tried to contact her, and told her what to say.

Newcastle Crown Court heard the attack, which caused the victim to vomit and cry out in pain, has left her depressed and afraid to go out.

The attack, which was said to have lasted an hour-and-a-half, took place on December 18 last year as she was walking home from a youth club in Elswick, Newcastle.

Sentencing Miah for rape, robbery and carrying an offensive weapon, Judge James Goss said he would also receive an extended six years on licence.

"It was a prolonged, terrifying and humiliating ordeal for your young victim," he said.

"She was physically injured and mentally traumatised. The effects on her have been significant and life changing."

Richard Bloomfield, defending, said: "Nothing I can say can begin to deminish the gravity of what he has done, I don't intend to begin to try."

Miah, from Elswick, who has previously been expelled for taking a knife into school, was also given a sexual prevention order and told he would be placed on the sexual offenders register indefinitely.
