SOLDIERS from the 1st Battalion Scots Guards received their Operational Service Medals from the Duke of Kent in North Yorkshire today (Thursday, May 9).
The soldiers have just returned from a six-month tour in the Upper Gereshk Valley in Afghanistan.
They were presented with their medals at the Munster Barracks in Catterick Garrison by the Duke of Kent, the General Officer Commanding London District, Major General George Norton CBE, and Commander 49 (East) Brigade, Brigadier Harry Nickerson.
Over 950 family members and friends joined the celebrations.
Members of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards were deployed between August 2012, and March 2013, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Robert Howieson.
