A SUPERMARKET is appealing to shoppers to choose which charity should be supported for the next year.
Over the past 12 months staff and shoppers at Sainsbury’s in St Helen Auckland have raised £5,147.23 for the Chyrelle Addams Cancer Appeal, and now the store is looking to choose a new charity to support.
Trish Greensmith, who started the Chyrelle Addams Cancer Appeal, said: “Working with Sainsbury’s over the last 12 months has made such a difference to our cause.
“We’ve raised a fantastic amount which we’re using towards the cost of five infusion pumps for The University of North Durham Hospital's Chemotherapy department, these are used to administer chemotherapy drugs very slowly into the blood stream.
“We’re now looking forward to working with them on future opportunities”.
Since the store opened in 2010 it has raised more than £14,000 for charities.
Shoppers are asked to vote for the next charity while in store or by visiting sainsburys.co.uk/localcharity.
Store manager Christine Jeffrey said: “Our work with previous local charity partners over the years has been really successful in letting our customers have their say.
“We hope our customers can take the time to vote in the coming weeks and give a local charity that’s close to their hearts the chance for us to support them.”
Votes need to be cast by Wednesday, May 15, and the winning charity will be announced in June.
