AFTER hitting national headlines and appearing on BBC television, County Durham’s miniature horses Mr P and Molly could soon be entertaining viewers across the pond.
The horses are familiar figures in the region as they regularly visit retirement homes and schools under the business banner K&L Pony Parties and Therapy, based in Middleton-St-George near Darlington.
Business owners Katy Smith and Laura Potter have now been contacted by an Australian production company keen to film the horses as part of a documentary about Britain.
Ms Potter said: “We don’t really know much about it at this stage, but we are due to meet with producers on May 17 and filming could take place on May 22 and 23 in Newcastle.
“I think the programme is about an Australian children’s author who is travelling across England and filming it for a documentary.”
Ms Potter said the horses are now in high demand, having recently appeared on BBC Look North and featured in an article on a national news website alongside pictures of Mr P enjoying a cup of tea inside Ms Smith’s flat - although Ms Potter was keen to stress that the horses only go inside houses as part of their training.
Due to all the media attention, K&L Party Ponies are now looking for local businesses to sponsor them and anybody interested can contact Ms Potter and Ms Smith via the website www.mollyandmrp.com or via their facebook page.
