GANNIN’ along the Roman road, to march in Blaydon Races.
Roman fanatic Tony “The Roman” Jose is to take part in this year’s Blaydon Race.
The retired former lorry driver, who made headlines around the world after turning his terraced home in Gilesgate, Durham City, into a shrine to Caesar’s fallen empire, will walk the six-mile route in his Roman armour, to raise money for children’s charity Heel and Toe.
The Durham-based good cause helps children with cerebral palsy and dyspraxia.
The Blaydon Race takes place on Sunday, June 9, at 3pm, beginning in Newcastle and ending at Blaydon.
Mr Jose regularly reprises his Roman impersonation act for good causes and has even appeared on ITV talent show Britain’s Got Talent.
Last year, his new-found fame helped reunite him with his son Stefan, who he had not seen in 25 years.
