ELITE cycling returns to Durham’s ancient and cobbled streets next week (Thursday, May 16).
The second stage of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series 2013 will be held in Durham City on Thursday, May 16.
Racing will start at 7pm, with the route starting and finishing at Durham School and taking in Margery Lane, Crossgate Bank, South Street and Grove Street.
There will be road closures to allow for the race. For full details, visit durham.gov.uk
Belmont park-and-ride will be open until 10pm.
It is free to watch the race from the roadside. Spectators are advised to arrive early to get the best spots.
The tour series begins in Kirkcaldy, Scotland on Tuesday. The 11th and final race is in Ipswich on Friday, June 14. Highlights of each race will be shown on ITV4 at 10pm the following evening.
This year, riders will also be going all out to win the Costa Express Fastest Lap prize.
