EXPECTANT mothers can get advice on breastfeeding at a new series of support sessions in a south Durham Town.
The breastfeeding support group meets every Wednesday, between 1pm and 2.30pm, and a breastfeeding workshop is being held on Monday, May 13, between 1pm and 4pm, at Crook Children’s Centre, based at Crook Health Centre.
Women who are due to give birth are invited to the support group to meet the staff and other mums who can talk about their own experiences of breastfeeding.
Ev (CORR) Swinbank, senior family support worker at Durham County Council, said: “The support group is a place where mums can chill out, meet other mums and share their experiences.
“We’re inviting mums-to-be to come along and find out about the support that is available and talk to other mums so that they can make an informed choice about whether they want to breastfeed when their baby arrives.”
The workshop will offer a more in depth focus on breastfeeding and staff will be hoping to dispel any myths and answer questions which expectant parents might have.
Those wishing to attend he workshop must book a place in advance by contacting children’s centres at Woodhouse Close on 01388-743030, Willington on 03000-268445 or Coundon on 01388-660365.
