RAIL fans can view one of the final airbraked coal hopper wagons at a railway museum.
The wagon was built in 1977 and it has gone on show at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon.
It was built at Shildon Wagon Works and it has been designated for preservation by the Railway Heritage Committee.
The coal hoppers were first built in 1976 as a way of transporting domestic and industrial coal quicker.
This style of wagon was phased out during the 1990s until they were final scrapped in 2007.
The vehicle at Shildon was transferred to the National Railway Museum's collection by train operation DB Schenker (Rail UK).
The museum is open 10am to 5pm daily with free entry. The wagon is on show for the foreseeable future and details can be obtained by calling 01388-777999.
