Police have renewed appeals for information over the death of a man who was hit by four cars near Whitby.

Darren Stawman, 43, of Bridlington, was wearing dark clothing as he walked  along the A174 at the junction with the B1266 on the outskirts of town at around 8.30pm on Sunday March 24.

He was initially hit by a grey Alfa Romeo 147 travelling towards Whitby before being hit by a grey Nissan X-trail, a black Peugeot 308 and  black Peugeot 407.

Police believe Mr Stawman may have been dropped off by a taxi, but are keen to talk to anyone who may have seen him between 9.30am and 8.30pm on the Sunday. Anyone with information should call Traffic Sgt Hamish Halloway on 101.
