A 44-YEAR-OLD woman has been charged with drugs offences following a raid on a lap-dancing club last year.

Red Velvetabove a chip shop in Consett - County Durham’s only strip club at the time – was raided in December while dancers performed.

During the raid 12 bags of cocaine were found.

Among the people arrested at the time were two dancers, the club’s designated premises supervisor (DPS) and its “house mother” who was responsible for the dancers.

The house mother and DPS were bailed pending further inquiries.

Durham Police today confirmed they had charged the woman with supplying a Class A drug, namely cocaine, as well as possession of a Class A drug and possessing a class B drug.

The man was “dealt with by way of a caution” for possessing cocaine. The dancers were cautioned at the the time of their arrest.

The woman, who has not been named, will appear at Consett Magistrates on Thursday, May 23.

Club boss Sonny Gill surrendered the club’s sexual entertainment venue licence after the drinks licence was revoked.
