GREEN-tinged superhero the Incredible Hulk is being sought by police – after allegedly behaving in a very unheroic way.

The comic-book character – or at least a woman reveller trying to look like him – was involved in an early-hours fracas outside a fast-food restaurant in which a teenage girl was assaulted.

And police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and have issued a CCTV image of the woman they need to speak to.

The incident took place in Blake Street, York, as the offender, dressed up as Marvel’s bad-tempered giant, left the McDonalds burger restaurant with a group of other people. It happened shortly after 3am on April 26 – but details have only just been released by police.

As a result of the alleged assault the victim, a17-year-old local girl, was left with bruising to her face and a black eye.

At the time of the incident the suspect was dressed as a female version of the Hulk - covered in green body paint with dyed red hair and wearing a torn T-shirt. Under all the make-up she is believed to be in her late teens or early twenties and is around 5ft 8ins tall with a medium build.

PC Cheryl Hunter said: “This appears to have been a wholly unprovoked assault. Thankfully the injuries were not too severe. However, the outcome could have been far more serious.”

She added: “If you witnessed the assault or can identify the woman I need to speak to about this incident, I ask that you contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”

Anyone who can help is asked to contact York CID on 101, select option two and ask for Cheryl Hunter. Alternatively information can be emailed directly to cheryl.hunter@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
