A CARAVAN smashed up in the middle of a dual carriageway has caused traffic chaos after a collision between the car towing the caravan and another car.
The crash happened on the A1 northbound, just north of Leeming Bar at 11.23am today (Monday, May 6).
North Yorkshire Police said although ambulances attended there were not believed to be any injuries, but the caravan was badly damaged.
The incident involved a grey Honda CRV, which was pulling the caravan, and a black Ford Fiesta.
A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police said: “At one point all lanes were blocked, but all vehicles are now clear of the carriageway.
“One lane is still currently closed to allow for recovery – which will take about one hour.”
Witnesses said traffic is moving very slowly and is backed-up for more than two miles.
