A 24-year-old man suffered head injuries after he was attacked during a night out in Newcastle.
It happened at 3.10am yesterday (Saturday, May 4) opposite the old Co-op building at Newgate Street in the city centre.
He was taken to the RVI for treatment to a fractured skull where he remains in a stable condition.
Police arrested two men aged 20 at the scene in connection with the assault and they have been bailed pending further enquiries.
BOY HURT: Police are investigating after a teenager suffered head injuries during an assault in Sunderland.
Officers were called just after 10pm on Saturday following the attack under a footbridge which runs from North Hylton Road to Nissan.
They found a 17-year-old boy who was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment before being discharged.
THREE ARRESTS: Three men have been arrested for affray after a disturbance in Newcastle.
Police were called at 1.20am today (Sunday, May 5) after a fight inside a house at Chesterfield Road had moved out on to the street.
Officers attended and arrested three men, one aged 35 and two aged 22, on suspicion of affray. The 35-year-old received hospital treatment for a suspected fractured jaw.
The two men aged 22 have been bailed pending further enquiries.
