A WELL-loved butcher and pie maker has today (Monday, April 22) opened a new store in Richmond.
Taylor’s Butchers, which also has stores in Darlington, Ferryhill and Durham, opened a branch in Richmond Market Place, with town mayor Stuart Parsons cutting the ribbon.
The shop, run by Paul, Nigel and Stuart Taylor-Garthwaite, was giving out free samples of pie to customers during the day.
Paul Taylor-Garthwaite said: “The opening day was excellent, lots of people came down and we had some really positive comments from members of the public – it’s a really exciting time and we are looking forward to serving the town.
“We specialise in pork pies but all of our pie varieties go down very well.
“People trust their local butcher more than the supermarkets now and we have seen an upturn because people like to know where their meat has come from.”
