A REGATTA which was cancelled for the first time in its 178-year history last summer has found a new sponsor for 2013.
Heavy rain put paid to the 178th Durham Regatta last June, leaving organisers counting the cost but confident the event would survive.
Now Corepeople Recruitment has signed up as the regatta’s new sponsor.
Regatta secretary Dave Oliver said: “Corepeople’s sponsorship of the regatta means that Durham Regatta can continue to develop the opportunities that we offer to rowers, spectators and visitors.”
Corepeople founder Ian Storer said: “It is really satisfying for us to be able to support such an iconic event as Durham Regatta.
“Corepeople is committed to engaging with our community and the regatta has always been an important part of life in the North-East.”
This year’s regatta will be held on the River Wear in Durham City on June 8 and 9. For more information, visit durham-regatta.org.uk
