Three people have been arrested after a man was found with a head injury in a Sunderland street.

Officers on patrol discovered the 46-year-old man on Hedworth Terrace, Shiney Row, just after 12.15am this morning. (Friday, March 29) He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment where he remains.

Two men, aged 53 and 20, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit GBH. They are currently assisting police with inquiries.

A 25-year-old woman was also arrested for a public order offence.
