UNION Unite has offered to hold talks over the Easter weekend with Yorkshire Ambulance Service ahead of a planned one-day strike over patient safety and union recognition by 450 of its staff on Tuesday (2 April). Stephen Moir, deputy chief executive of Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said it had plans to avoid disrupting patient care, should the strike go ahead.

SHOW CHANGES: The Great Yorkshire Show is to spend £500,000 on increasing the number of car parking spaces at the Harrogate event to 23,500 and improving the roads. The move follows much of last year’s show being cancelled after vehicles became stuck in waterlogged fields.
