FAMILY Easter activities are being held at a North-East visitor attraction.

Young people have been taking part in an Easter Egg Hunt at Gibside, near Burnopfield in County Durham.

The National Trust landscape park and nature reserve is also giving children the chance to build miniature dens from natural materials as part of its ‘mouse house’ challenge.

Spokesman Emily Bryce said: “During the remainder of the Easter holidays there is a different family event every weekday, all free, after the normal admission price.

“Parents can give their children a taste of the wild with activities like den-building with marshmallow toasting around the campfire and an unusual sporting craze, frisbee golf.

“There will also be the chance for families to take part in something big while getting their hands mucky and helping Gibside’s conservation experts.”

The estate’s twice monthly Farmers Market will take place on Saturday, April 6 with a wide selection of local seasonal food produce and craft stalls.

At the end of the school holidays on April 12 there will be Gibside’s Spring Hogroast.

Ms Bryce added: “This is also the ideal time to view the estate’s newborn lambs venturing out into the fields for the first time.

“This year, they are dressed in fashionable little red coats to keep them warm through the current cold snap.”
