A FAMILY will host a fundraising night next month in aid of cancer charities.

Laura Dartnall, of Spennymoor, is organizing the event at Spennymoor Leisure Centre on Friday, April 26, doors open at 7pm.

She and her relatives have been inspired to raise money for charity by her auntie Marie Bear, also from Spennymoor, who is currently fighting breast cancer.

Tickets are priced £5 with proceeds going to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, which funds research into diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

A raffle on the night, which includes a television among the prizes, will raise money for the Chyrelle Addams Cancer Trust which raises money to buy medical equipment.

The night will feature entertainment by comedy drag artist Roxy Tart and singer Julia Dixon and a Pics Elated photo booth with props.

The Oaks School, in Spennymoor, raised £646 with a non-uniform day and £930 was collected during a sponsored bag-pack at Marks and Spencer at the Metrocentre last week for the fund.

Miss Dartnall said: “My auntie was diagnosed in November and we wanted to support cancer charities from that point.

“Research costs £1,000 a day so that is our target for the night, we hope it will all help.”

For tickets contact Miss Dartnall on 07447-474707 or buy them at The Kiln Rooms Café, in Spennymoor Leisure Centre.
