RESIDENTS at a North East care home have taken special delivery of a cheep Easter present.

Brancepeth Court and Lumley Court based in the Willington Care Village in Willington, County Durham, have received several eggs which are now hatching.

The first chicks hatched in the reception lounge shared by the two buildings.

To ensure the chicks hatched safely, a vet was on call to offer advice and assistance.

Sandra Wilkinson, Manager, said: “The chicks have been a fantastic addition to our homes and we have all enjoyed having them here.

“The residents have been fascinated watching the hatching process and eagerly awaited meeting the chicks.

“At Brancepeth and Lumley Court we have a carefully planned programme of events and activities for our residents to enjoy and benefit from and this was an extra special way for us to celebrate the Easter period.”
