POLICE are appealing for information after a robbery at a Darlington shop last night.

The incident took place at around 8.30pm at the Ken Warne Store, in Cleveland Terrace.

A man carrying a knife entered the store, brandished the weapon at the male cashier and demanded money from the till.

The shaken member of staff handed over around £175 and the man left the shop with the cash and went out of sight.

He is described as being aged in his late teens to early twenties, medium build, between 5ft 7in and 5ft 11in tall, and wearing a blue hooded top. He also wore a light coloured woollen hat.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the man in the area before or after the incident to contact the Darlington Serious Crime Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
