IT IS 50 years since the Fab Four released their first album – but Beatlemania is breaking out all over again.

However this time the screaming teens have been replaced by the rather more sedate members of the Yorkshire Flower Club.

They are creating their own floral tribute to the Beatles to mark the anniversary of the band’s first album.

Their display features dozens of designs dedicated to John, Paul, George and Ringo and their most famous hits.

Central to their theme will be the iconic Yellow Submarine, along with Sergeant Pepper and hits such as Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, Lady Madonna and Back in the USSR.

The Beatles extravaganza will be among the highlights of this year’s Harrogate Spring Flower Show, being staged at the Great Yorkshire Showground from April 25 to 28.

And adding to the mop-top treat today, March 27, were tribute band the Upbeat Beatles, who were in Harrogate to take part in a charity concert raising funds for the town’s Royal Hall.

Flower club chairman Sandra Harder said: “The Beatles were an iconic band and their music continues to touch each new generation of music lovers.”
