THE unseasonal cold snap has put paid to plans for a weekend of events at Raby Castle, in Teesdale.
The historic venue was due to welcome Easter visitors on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Rachel Milner, Raby’s marketing and events supervisor said: “It is with regret that the staff and management have made the decision not to open the castle, park or gardens to the public this weekend, and all planned Easter activities will be cancelled.”
She explained: “Our car parks are mainly on grass and due to the snow and wet conditions underfoot, we would not be able to accommodate visitors’ cars.”
“This has been very disappointing for all concerned, however, we hope to make arrangements to reschedule the children’s activities later in the year.”
