A CASHIER in a bookmakers shop was threatened at knifepoint by a robber who fled with a bagful of cash.

The raid happened at around 9.10pm on Tuesday. March 26, at Betfred on Millfield Avenue in the Hull Road area of York.

The robber threatened the cashier with a knife and demanded cash which he put in a bag before leaving the shop with another man.

The par then fled the scene in a black car believed to be a Vauxhall Astra.

The knifeman was aged between 25 and 30, around 6ft tall, clean-shaven, and had a pasty complexion. He was wearing a dark blue waterproof jacket and navy blue tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Inspector Ian Dyer said: “Fortunately, nobody was injured in this incident but it is important that we identify the people involved as soon as possible.”
