THE fans group with a majority stake in Darlington FC has issued membership certificates.

About 800 founder members of Darlington FC Community Interest Company (CIC) have been sent the certificates, together with a covering letter and personal details form.

The CIC says it now aims to improve its communications with fans after criticism from supporters who have been unable to contact the group.

Dave Mills, a director of Darlington Football Club CIC, said: “We understand the need to improve our two-way communication with our supporters, to make sure they receive accurate information and are actively listened to as we move forward.

“Our priority is to continue to reach our fans using all available forms of media. We will release regular articles and information on the club website and in the local press and support that with links to social media.

“We hope that fans quickly embrace the supporter-owned and community-based football club, and support the various fundraising activities that will be rolling out.”

The CIC said it now wanted fans to get more involved with the CIC, which is run by a board of directors including fans Dave Mills, Ian Wilkinson and Paul Colman, as well as solicitor Andrew Cawkwell.

A new CIC working group is being formed with representatives of the various fans’ groups. A meeting with the CIC fundraising group has also been held to discuss future activities.

Anyone wanting more information on the CIC or wanting to volunteer their services can email the directors at contact@darlingtonfc.org Further methods of contacting the CIC will be announced later, the club said.
