THE North-East’s coast and countryside is being showcased to an international audience as part of a high-profile advertising campaign.
The Visit County Durham (VCD) campaign to attract tourists to County Durham is based on the slogan ‘This is Durham’ and includes advertisements in national newspapers and London Underground and East Coast main line stations.
The campaign, which focuses on the county’s natural beauty, has benefited from £450,000 from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF).
VCD chief executive Melanie Sensicle said: “The emotive imagery and phrases used in the campaign were designed to really challenge people’s perceptions of the county. From the feedback we’ve received, we’ve achieved just that.”
