TWO shop mannequins proved they were more than mere window dressing when they exchanged vows at a wedding with a difference today (Monday, March 25).

The two shop dummies, played by Abi Blades and Alex Armitage, from Boroughbridge were married in a ceremony held in the centre of the North Yorkshire town.

The tongue-in-cheek ceremony was to mark the joining of two neighbouring wedding businesses, the wedding gown boutique Curvy Bridal and gents’ outfitters Joshua Adams. The two businesses found themselves neighbours in the town at the beginning of the year.

The ceremony was carried out by vicar Philip Smith, who wrote a light-hearted service, and attended by the town’s mayor and other local dignitaries.

Representatives from other wedding businesses in the region also attended.

The model couple were then driven back to the shop a few yards away from the ceremony in a Bentley loaned by Goldsborough Hall near Harrogate.
