A WHITBY museum is in the finals of Visit England’s Awards for Excellence competition 2013 as it unveils a Maori canoe exhibition.
The Captain Cook Memorial Museum in the port's Grape Lane will receive at least a Highly Commended award when the results are announced on May 20.
Last year, it won its section of Welcome to Yorkshire’s White Rose awards for the second time – and the national award caps that success.
The star of this year's special exhibition is the huge prow of a Maori war canoe, complete with menacing figurehead, belonging to Hull Maritime Museum.
The runs until November 3. For details call 01947-601900.
