BOBBIES have been on the buses in and around Durham City as part a new crime-fighting strategy.
Officers took to public transport to talk to members of the public about policing priorities and to get feedback.
Members of Durham City's neighbourhood policing team joined regular service routes to Bearpark, Bowburn, Brandon, Ushaw Moor and other nearby communities holding impromptu sessions with passengers to discover their fears and concerns.
They set off from the bus station on North Road in Durham at 4pm on Saturday.
Inspector Paul Anderson, who leads the city’s neighbourhood policing team, said the idea came the regular Police and Communities Together (PACT) meetings in the area.
Durham Constabulary’s Facebook page and Twitter account, @DurhamPolice, have more information about the scheme.
