OFFICERS in north Durham are appealing for information following two burglaries in the area.

The first took place on Sunday March 10 at around 11.30pm when a garage in Wordsworth Gardens in Dipton was broken into.

Access was gained by forcing entry of the garage door.

The owner of the garage disturbed two suspects, described as men wearing dark clothing, who then ran from the scene.

The second burglary took place at a house on Front Street, Dipton between 1.30pm and 4.45pm on Friday March 15.

The burglars got in through a side door and a number of items were stolen, including an X-Box 360 console, a PlayStation 3, a white Apple Mini-Mac computer monitor and keyboard, and 30 Blu-ray discs including boxed sets of various topics.

The suspect in this case was seen running away from the property and is described as a man wearing a black woollen hat and camouflaged army-style jacket.

A spokesman for Durham Police said: “If anyone has any information that might help police with enquiries, has been offered for sale any of the items listed above, or has any ideas about the identity of the man in the camouflaged jacket, they are asked to contact PC 2168 Paul Stevenson at Stanley police station”

The force’s non-emergency number is 101 extension 665-2561.
