A WOMAN has been left badly bruised and shaken after a man snatched her handbag.
The robbery happened at about 7.50pm on Saturday, March 16.
A 43-year-old woman was talking down Annand Road, in Gilesgate, Durham City, when a man approached her and asked the time.
She walked on but the man grabbed her from behind and pulled at her handbag.
The woman fell to the ground and the man made off with the bag, heading towards Mackintosh Court.
The handbag contained a white iPad3 and a large silver Chanel wallet, plus other personal items.
The man is described as white, 5’9” tall, of very slim build. He is thought to be in his early 20s, clean shaven with short hair. He was wearing dark clothing.
Detective Constable Natalie Hulse, of Durham City CID, said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the lady involved.”
