SPORT stars swapped their kits for the latest fashion as they took to the catwalk to raise money for charity tonight (Friday, March 22).
Newcastle United’s Shola Ameobi, Tim Krul and Vurnon Anita were joined by former captain Rob Lee for Fashion Match, staged at Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park ground in aid of the Children’s Heart Unit Fund (CHUF), Marie Curie and Chefs Adopt a School.
Also taking part were Falcons scrum-half Chris Pilgrim, Durham cricketers Jamie Harrison and the current Miss Sunderland, Rebecca Mason.
The event was organised by businessmen Graham Wylie and Ian Watson, hosted by comedian Bobby Davro and featured a performance by Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley.
Guests were also treated to a five-course dinner with food from acclaimed chefs Terry Laybourne, Kenny Atkinson, Dave Kennedy and Simon Walsh.
It was hoped the event would raise around £300,000.
