GRUESOME medieval medical treatments and folklore will be revealed at an exhibition of excavated skeletons.
York Archaeological Trust will unveil the results of a pathology report of a woman from the Middle Ages who died of leprosy in the city, at its Plague, Poverty and Prayer exhibition.
Visitors will see a cyst that has been removed from a stomach, a growth neoplasm on a jaw, an infected vertebrae, degenerative joint disease and broken bones.”
Other bone material excavated from sites around York will be used to explore living conditions for the city’s residents during medieval times.
The exhibition at Barley Hall, York, which opens on Sunday, March 31, will include a contribution from Horrible Histories author Terry Deary.
